FLAT POWER [Carter.NIchols]
Durning our weekly VW meet we have down here in Hampton Roads a visitor from the East graced our European gathering. A Subaru STi is unusual face to find at a VW meet, but being driven by a former dubber this Japanese hot hatch was more than welcome to be eye candy for us. From the outside looking in this was a beautiful car. Moderately lowered and brand name labeled, the outside gave only a slight hint as to what was to come from underneath the hood.

Wayne, the owner, was kind enough to unveil the monster within. Immediately I was met by the sight of a Garrett GT30r. Naturally as engine-side talk goes I got the full run down of the modifications. The list is long, to say the least. This STi is sporting a fully built engine which on recent dyno sheets put it at 398whp/390wtq @ 23psi. Needless to say, this thing can move, and quickly.

I was sold very quickly on this car. It struck me as the pure idea of a drivers car, built and tuned to do nothing but drive. So often does the Japanese car community fall victim to the stereotype of flashy looks, loud sounds, with little power to show. Well this STi is here to call that bluff.

Enjoy and until next time,

-Carter
